Amelie’s Onboarding Adventure

Published 29/11/2022 / THOUGHTS

I never thought my first week of a graduate job would include taking part in bowling, flying through the air on a zipwire and crazy golfing but here we are!

How was your first week being onboarded in a bootcamp?

When Ruth originally floated the idea of beginning my role at the 3THINKRS bootcamp in Center Parcs, I panicked. I then thought about it and realised it was the perfect opportunity to meet everyone and really get stuck into the role.

So, I started the journey to Millbrook (with many travel challenges but I made it)! Being the newbie in a strange place was daunting but the team immediately put me at ease and made me feel welcome. Amongst the work, discussions and training was a lot of time to just get to know one another. We definitely got the full Center Parcs experience – with the waterpark and arial adventure remaining firm favourites of mine.

How are you finding your time working in a hybrid workplace?

Bonding with my colleagues in person has made working from home a lot easier. I’m not afraid to ask questions because I know who’s at the end of the phone and I really enjoy the freedom of hybrid working. It has been fairly easy to get used to, particularly as most of my university experience was online.  Also, I am currently living in Guernsey, I love the freedom 3THINKRS has given me to go between London and home, preparing me to make the big move to the city in the near future.

I think the one thing I was worried about when working remotely and living away was that I wouldn’t feel very involved with the team but that is not the case! I definitely look forward to coming over and both experiences when I have (Center Parcs and the Christmas party) have been so fun and really helped the onboarding process. Making use of the occasional office day also helps this, to discuss how we are all working, planning for what is coming up and strategizing for 3THINKRS and our clients

What is your favourite part of the job and why?

My favourite part of the job is the range of work. The strategizing and content writing are both aspects I really enjoy and it’s really satisfying to be able to use things I was taught at university and apply them to the workplace. I’ve also really enjoyed the introduction to the B2B sector. It wasn’t an area I was familiar with before, but the work of our clients has been challenging but interesting to explore and I can’t wait to learn more!

What are you looking forward to achieving in the months ahead?

Everything is still very new, so I’m just looking forward to learning more! My goals for the months ahead are to improve my communication with clients and become more confident with my work. I am excited be a part of 3THINKRS and can’t wait to see where the future takes us!
