Why 3THINKRS works for me – Island Life

Published 22/06/2023 / THOUGHTS

Can you tell us more about life in Guernsey and why working remotely works for you?

Coming from the small island of Guernsey (24 square miles to be exact), there aren’t many opportunities in public relations, and I felt as though the career I wanted was out of reach. The realities of this challenge truly came to light once I’d left university and started exploring my options.

I made the huge decision to move to London but hadn’t considered the difficulties of moving over so quickly. So, landing my dream graduate role with an agency like 3THINKRS has completely changed my outlook on remote working! The opportunities this new approach can give is truly revolutionary and such an advantage for people in my position.

How did you find the transition from university to hybrid work?

I had an unconventional first week – being onboarded at a bootcamp in Centre Parcs, which I then followed with a few trips into our London pop-up office days before heading home. Reality then kicked in and I found myself navigating the hybrid work environment for the first time. Although it does come with its challenges, the freedom our working policies have given me have been incredibly valuable.

The majority of the first eight months in my role have been at home in Guernsey, having time to adjust to working life has allowed me time to consider my options and thoroughly plan a move to the UK. I am able to go leisurely about my morning, working the hours that work for me and gaining valuable experience in a career I am passionate about.

What advice would you give to someone starting their own hybrid working journey?

Don’t be afraid to ask for help! If there is ever any uncertainty, your colleagues are always at the end of the phone. The team have been so supportive and really helped me learn- something that isn’t always easy as a new employee working remotely. The company’s policy has also helped me to  take advantage of working in new spaces! Not only have I been able to visit some brilliantly modern workspaces in the centre of London, but I was also a part of the recent trip to Valencia. Getting to experience a completely new place and culture was a drastic change to my WFH set-up, but so worthwhile and enjoyable! I so am grateful for the opportunities and experiences I have shared with my colleagues at 3THINKRS and am excited to see what the future holds.

So, what’s next?

Well, although it won’t be long before I swap ocean views for the big city, the freedom this policy has given me has been incredibly valuable and I could not have asked for a better introduction to the world of work! And, to the future cohort of graduate account executives, if you want a supportive, flexible and fun work environment, 3THINKRS is the company for you!
